01 The story, in three paragraphs

Why everyone keeps coming back.

Nestled in the heart of Ahuntsic-Cartierville, Kalabok is a charming gem that invites you to indulge in the rich and comforting flavors of Slavic and Eastern European cuisine. This cozy restaurant is beloved by locals and newcomers alike, offering an authentic culinary experience that feels like a warm embrace from a cherished family recipe.

The menu at Kalabok is a celebration of tradition and freshness, featuring expertly prepared dishes that burst with aromatic spices and hearty textures. Start your culinary journey with their tantalizing Sauce Adjika Moyen, a mildly spicy blend of chili peppers, garlic, and exotic spices that elevates meats and savory pastries with a subtle kick. Pair your meal with a refreshing glass of Kampot, a traditional homemade drink crafted from simmered fruits—its natural sweetness and chill provide the perfect contrast to the robust flavors on your plate.

Kalabok’s specialty lies in its irresistible comfort foods. Fans rave about the homestyle meat dishes, each bite delivering a symphony of well-seasoned, tender flavors that evoke memories of lovingly cooked meals at home. Don’t miss the legendary dumplings, praised for their delicate texture and rich fillings, or the heavenly Napoleon sweets, which one customer described as the best they've ever had—an absolute must-try for those with a sweet tooth.

To conclude your meal, savor a slice of their moist and indulgent Chocolate Cake, a perfect harmony of richness and subtle sweetness that leaves a lasting impression. Alternatively, opt for the Fruit Cake topped with real fruit chunks, offering a lighter, naturally sweet finish to your dining experience.

The atmosphere at Kalabok is as inviting as the food. Run by two warm and welcoming ladies, the small space feels intimate and familial. Their genuine hospitality shines through, making every guest feel immediately at home. With a modest dining area and a convenient takeout counter, Kalabok strikes the perfect balance between casual comfort and authentic culinary discovery.

If you’re searching for a unique taste of Slavic culture wrapped in fresh, lovingly prepared dishes, Kalabok is a must-visit destination in Montreal. Whether it’s a soul-warming bowl of borscht on a chilly winter day or a refreshing sip of Kampot on a sunny afternoon, this restaurant promises a memorable dining experience that delights the senses and warms the heart.

Best napolean sweets I had in my life. Persians would love this place! Also amazing dumplings. Don't forget to buy their "kompot" drink.

Was an absolute pleasure! Brought my son, were greeted warmly by the two lovely ladies who run the resto (and treat you like family in the best sense possible). If like us you appreciate and seek out an authentic setting and meals lovingly prepared, fresh, delicious, a cultural immersion, Kalabok is a must-visit. We were so full we had to bring home dessert, and also a cabbage pastry, warmed up in the oven that was so delicious we regretted not buying more. Thank you for a truly memorable evening!

What a hidden gem! This place serves amazing homestyle slavic foods that taste the love from a grandma. Everything was super fresh and yummy! The small place has a takeout counter and 3 small tables. The place is run by 2 lovely ladies. Great hospitality! The borscht soup definitely warms the soul on cold winter days. It has a good depth and fresh taste. The soup is packed with veggies with little bit of meat and beans. It was delicious! And the bread that comes with it was so good! A small garlic bread with a hint of sweetness. It has a sweet caramelized crust. I could eat that all day! The owner explained to me that they are baked freshly every morning in a limited amount to be served with the soup. The other highlight was the honey cake. Moist, dense but it doesn’t feel heavy at all. Little tangy with a beautiful taste of caramelized honey. They use local honey to make their cake. Heaven! Can’t wait to go back and to try more from their menu!

I was looking for something to eat Sunday afternoon and decided to try Kalabok. Amazing food and very friendly staff! İt's amazing to finally have Uzbek/ Tajik food in Montreal which is not only delicious but also very affordable and available. I had Plov and Somsa, and there are several other items on the menu to try, including Ukrainian dishes. I will definitely be going back whenever I am in the area! Rahmati kalon!

This has quickly become one of my favorite places in Montreal! Unique food you don't always find here, and the service from the two ladies is hearty: makes you feel like home! I particularly enjoy the pelmeni and the medovik cake: the dessert slices are quite large for the price!
